1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using WebLLM, including the browser extension, client SDK, gateway services, or any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

These terms apply to all users, including developers integrating WebLLM into their applications, end users of the browser extension, and organizations using the gateway services.

2. Service Description

WebLLM is a protocol and software suite that enables browser-native access to Large Language Models (LLMs). The Service includes:

  • A browser extension that provides the navigator.llm API
  • Client SDKs for web developers
  • Gateway services for routing AI requests
  • Integration with third-party AI model providers

3. Third-Party AI Providers

Important: Multiple Providers, Different Policies

WebLLM connects to various third-party AI model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.). Each provider has their own terms of service, acceptable use policies, and data handling practices.

You are responsible for:

  • Complying with each provider's terms of service
  • Ensuring your use case is permitted by the provider's acceptable use policy
  • Obtaining and safeguarding your own API keys
  • Any costs incurred from provider usage

WebLLM is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or behavior of third-party AI models. Provider APIs may change, become unavailable, or produce unexpected outputs without notice.

4. Disclaimer of Warranties

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of AI model outputs
  • Warranties that the Service will meet your requirements

AI model outputs may be incorrect, biased, offensive, or otherwise problematic. You are solely responsible for evaluating and verifying any AI-generated content before use.

5. Limitation of Liability

WEBLLM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES

In no event shall WebLLM, its contributors, maintainers, or affiliates be liable for any:

  • Direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
  • Damages resulting from any AI model outputs or recommendations
  • Damages resulting from third-party provider failures or policy changes
  • Any other damages arising from your use of the Service

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, or otherwise) and even if WebLLM has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
